Forlorn by Nandita De nee Chatterjee

He dazzled, he scorched

He looked right through all

His arrogance had them swooning

Not one to accede

He strides right past

Fresh as morning dew

In blushing pink I coyly smiled

Impervious to childish charm

He turned away sternly

His shadow grew long

The loves of my life

One so unyielding

Proudly bearing his golden crown

Leaving me always by the wayside

Sinking into despair

Tearing the flowers in my tiara

I bury my face in the ground

Swearing never to arise

The dry, arid earth

Blisters on my face

Forsaken I lie

Forgotten is my fate

Know not for how long

Then a sudden cool gush

Strong hands lift me gently

And I stare into his eyes

Dark and smouldering

Intense is his gaze

He looks at me long and hard

I wilt in his arms

His fingers play with my hair

He holds me close

From somewhere a faint fragrance

Perfumes the moments

An embrace so passionate

In the dark his silhouette

My pale dress wrapped around him

Stars twinkling in my locks

Two suitors and me just one

Walking the tightrope

Fall I would

A certainty almost

Like soft clouds of love

His love engulfs

The silence chimes

A sweet note

Barely able to see

I succumb to his charms

Unknown is the night

Bewitching his ways

He speaks not, but lingers

For long his caress

Stranger in my life

Casting a spell

Forbidden zone

I slipped away from the sundry

Ventured where I must not

Hazarding without a thought

Oh Dark Lord of the Night

How you seduce

Enticing and overpowering

Into the black hole

Pulling me into your hold

Entrapped I am

Left the sunny path

Tear stained face now aglow

Shimmering in the dark

Passive in your presence

Succumbing to your passion

O Minstrel of the Dark

Submerged in your tune

I float away into the faraway stars.
