The Wolf And The Seven Little Kids (Rewritten) by Padmapriya Suresh

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven

Lined up the goat kids one by one

"Listen to my instructions", bleated the mommy

None paid attention except the youngest Tommy!

"I am going to the market to buy some cakes

Lock the door and be in your place

I will knock the door 'Tak, Tak, Tak'

And you must open the door on the third 'Tak'"!

"Bye", said the mommy and left to the town

Behind the doors, the kids went up and down

They jumped and bleated with pomp and joy

Until they heard 'knock' 'knock' 'knock'!

They fought with each other to open the door

And refused to listen to the youngest goat

'Wwwwwwwoooofff' pounced the hungry wolf

"You must quench my lunch", said the proud self!

Trembling with fear, escaped the kids

Under the tables, chairs and couch they froze

They held their breath and swallowed saliva

Like the plants that struggle with damaged stomata!

One, two, three, four, five and six

"Where did he escape, the smart and the youngest?"

Whined the wolf in anger and hunger

"Come out and assemble, you're all in danger"

Hiding in the garden, he thought and thought

He - the youngest Tommy blinked and blinked

Jumping over the bushes so bold and dare

He quickly ran to the grandfather bear!

"Tommy, my child", he took him in his arms

The grandfather bear hugged him in warmth

"Need your help", cried the little one

"Am there", "Am there", the bear assured its done!

Ages ago, the grandfather goat had helped the bear

Thus the grandfather bear is so grateful ever

Its great and wise to help each other

We must always be ready to share and care!

'Thud Thud Thud', stomped the big bear

On hearing this, the wolf shivered in fear

Jumping quickly, it disappeared into the forest

The kids now relaxed and took little rest

"Listen to your parents, follow their instructions

For you are too young to take decisions

To the youngest kid, everyone showered appreciation

The mommy goat returned, felt proud and thankful

Everyone now ate the cakes tummy full!
