Utopian World! By Dr. Pooja Gupta

“Are you sure?” asked the worried mother.

“Certainly. Pack the stuff,” the little girl told her.

“God bless. You look sweet in this red cape.” the mother quipped.

“It does. No wonder it’s my favourite.” she chirped.

“Be careful. Don’t talk to strangers,” warned the concerned lady.

Pat she replied, “Worry not, don’t act like one crazy,”

“Honey, do as I say. I will be anxious,”

“Oh mom, save it. I have had enough.”

“Grandma, I am coming,” she squealed on phone.

The excitement of maiden solo travel was obvious in her tone.

The red long cape as touched her ankles,

“I will cut it short and comfortable,” she wondered.

The sunny day seemed inviting and wonderful,

Suddenly she felt a breeze, comforting and cool.

“I am loving it,” she started humming a song,

To a little girl, Could ever anything go wrong?

Did some gaze follow her? She felt uneasy.

When she noticed a man who looked creepy.

“Maybe it’s just my thought,” she assured herself,

Yet, after constant assurance, she felt afraid of that wolf!

“Hey little one, are you travelling alone?” he asked her.

She paused, “I am fine. Thanks for the concern Sir.”

“Hey, you look tired. Take this,” he offered her the biscuit.

The words reverberated,”don’t talk to strangers even for a bit.”

She accelerated her steps as he was drawing close.

She could feel the sweat dropping from her nose.

“Why did I decide to come alone?” she cried.

Was there any spot where she could hide?

“Don’t panic if you ever fall in danger?”

Her mom’s words had ushered a new power in her.

Cautiously, she took the phone out of cape.

“Hello, please help, I am hiding near the XYZ gate.”

As she heard the alarming beacon,

She realised the right force had come.

“Dear, now you are safe,” the words felt soothing.

“Thank you uncle,” she smiled while controlling her breathing.

“I appreciate your bravery and presence of mind,” mom cried as she hugged her.

“Mumma, I had dialled the number in case of any anticipated danger.”

“Wonderful my daughter. There are wolves all around,”

“Mumma, that doesn’t mean we stay under the ground.”

As the bold and brave red hooded girl started again with her journey,

Her mother just could feel proud of her little honey-bunny!
